Ekai
"Ekai" is one of the four films produced under the project "Aikya". It demonstrates the stories of two migrant workers woven together by the common thread of discrimination.
Under the theme of “Migrant Lives”, the short films focus on an inter-weaved set of sub themes that unpack varying aspects of migration and migrant lives. These sub themes are (1) understanding the factors that draw migrant workers to the Maldives (2) prejudice faced by migrant workers, (3) the visible forms of discrimination that follows. Finally (4) the series explores how, Maldivians, as a society can move forward and bridge the gaps between our communities.
Aikya is a collaborative effort of UNDP Maldives and The Government of Japan.
