“When they heard that a tsunami was about to hit, people ran. Some got injured in the process. People took vessels out to the open ocean, while others jumped into the water in an attempt to get on board. That was how scared people were”, Mohamed Adheeb from M. Kolhufushi recalls the tsunami yellow alert experience from just over a year ago.
It’s clear that the impact of the 2004 tsunami still lingers. The threat to our vulnerable islands is still imminent.
