The trick to building a polytunnel that will stand the test of time is to ensure that the polythene cover is drum tight.
The standard way of fitting the polytunnel cover is to dig a trench around the base of the framework and bury the polythene in the ground. Cover Tensioning Tubes are an available addition, allowing you to lift the hoops into the polythene when trenched, adding tension to the cover.
Base Rails are very popular alternative. Available in timber or aluminium options, base rails simply clamp around the base of the polytunnel framework, doing away with the need for digging a trench and allowing the polythene cover to be simply fixed to the rails. Timber Base Rails and Aluminium Base Rails are adjustable to allow for cover tensioning.
