I want you to imagine a five-year-old soccer game. The kids are all lined up. They look great, and they're excited to play. The ball's on the field, the whistle blows, and boom, it's game on… but what happens?
The kids all rush together – it's this big mass of humanity on the field with a lot of energy, but the reality is, the ball's not really going anywhere. It's staying in one spot. There's a lot of kicking and motion, but no goals are being scored.
Now, fast-forward. Think about that same analogy, but maybe with sixth graders or 10th graders. We're further along. The same players are on the field in their spots, but this time, when the game starts, there's a strategy and a plan, and people are going to play their positions.
This is what we often see with the businesses we serve. In the beginning, most are much more like that five-year-old soccer team than the middle school or high school team that has a play to run when they're ready to go.
Here's my question for you. In your business, do you look more like the five-year-old soccer team or the high school team?
When something goes wrong, is it all hands on deck, where everybody has to be involved? Or, can you assign those things and manage these challenges with confidence? Do you and your team get out of position regularly, and are you constantly tripping over each other because you need clarification on who's accountable for what at any point in time?
I want you to think about that…
Do you look more like the five-year-old soccer team or that team that's a little older and a little more mature in the way they operate? Which one represents how you run your business today? And how does that then flow through the rest of your organization?
ONE TRUTH
The clarity that comes from having a strategy, a plan, and a system in place for ensuring the right people are in the right positions and accountable to their roles is what separates good businesses from great ones.
This is the work we do at Exit Momentum. Our coaches help the organizations we serve create the clarity, strategies, and plans they need to lead their teams confidently. We help make sure you have the right people in the right seats and that they know how to play their positions so you all win together.
We'd love to bring this level of excellence to you and your teams.
