Mt Baden-Powell is a 9-mile round trip with 2,800 feet of elevation gain in the San Gabriel Mountains. You'll hike 40 switchbacks on the Pacific Crest Trail, pass a 1,500-year-old limber pine, and reach a 9,399-foot summit with panoramic views. The route is tough but doable for most hikers with some elevation experience. Accessible year-round from Vincent Gap trailhead, though winter conditions may require traction devices. No permit needed. The hike includes a monument to Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts, and views across the San Gabriel range.
