Throwing DI has been known since the beta, but I think nobody does it better than Kawano. From watching him in a lot of matches, in two cases at Capcom Cup he was able to backthrow drive impact, which I felt was very impressive. I kind of wanted to do this to show others what they can learn from it and how to better defend in burnout. It does still suck, and it's a hard reaction, but if you pay close attention you will be able to stop very lowball, weak DI setups and escape.
I promise everyone will be able to consistently win more if they practice this, I think it's one of the most underrated skills. You won't be able to throw every DI, and you will get hit by many stand HP into DIs, but you'll also be able to throw tons of fake stuff and put them in the corner. Generally you don't want to be burned out so use your gauge wisely, but if you are burned out, practicing this skill will help you a lot.
