The Raleigh Chamber and SummerSTEM | STEMposium 2020
The Raleigh Chamber understands that Wake County educators play a critical role in the talent pipeline, ensuring that students in North Carolina’s largest school district have the skills and experience necessary to be successful after graduation. For several years, Ashley Cagle, Assistant Director of Wake County Economic Development, has welcomed the opportunity to work directly with K-12 educators participating in WakeEd Partnership’s SummerSTEM program.
In 2019, more than 100 educators from the Wake County Public School System participated in eight days of free professional development designed to impact student achievement and career readiness. An important takeaway for teachers is that businesses are looking for critical soft skills – communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking – in their future workforce.
WakeEd’s annual STEMposium event celebrates the impact of school-business partnerships. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, STEMposium 2020 became a virtual event.
