IBM and SummerSTEM | STEMposium 2020
Giving back to the community is a key part of IBM’s DNA. In the Triangle alone, IBM employees give more than 21,000 volunteer hours annually to programs like WakeEd Partnership’s SummerSTEM program. In 2019, IBM welcomed K-12 educators from the Wake County Public School System to their Triangle campus, to give them a first-hand look at how Design Thinking is used every day to develop new products and improve processes that solve real-world problems for IBM clients. In turn, teachers were able to take Design Thinking back to their classrooms to engage students in Project-Based Learning.
WakeEd’s annual STEMposium event celebrates the impact of school-business partnerships on student achievement and career readiness. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, STEMposium 2020 became a virtual event.
