The best way to release deep water fish: Cool Tool!
If you need to release fish hooked from deep water safely, I have found that the Seaqualizer is the way to go. Only $40-50, depending on where you get it, they are really great for getting fish back down to where they came from. I definitely think they’re the best tool for the job!
