Join Zoe Kendall as she shares her favourite piece of pottery for the ‘Pottery & People’ online exhibition. Zoe, Bernard Leach’s Great Grandchild, has chosen a sake bottle, known as a Tokkuri, made by Martin Miles-Moore. The dark brown glaze of this piece is made using wood ash from an oak tree salvaged from a bog that turned out to be over 5,000 years old.
‘Pottery & People’ is a collaborative online exhibition running throughout 2020 as part of the Leach Pottery’s centenary celebrations. It is a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the ceramic objects in our homes, and the Leach Pottery encourages everyone to get involved. From your everyday mug, to a family heirloom, the Leach invites you to share the story of your favourite piece of pottery or ceramics.
