Surface Based Arrays in ASAP Optical Software
An array of surface-based prisms in ASAP is modeled, parameterized, and rays are traced through the arrayed geometry. Using the ARRAY command, a wide range of geometrical arrays can be constructed and parameterized without any raytracing penalty, since individual array elements are not treated as separate objects. Furthermore, the SEARCH modifier on the ARRAY command is shown as a tool to accelerate ray traces in complex geometry where more information about the order of ray intersections is known a priori.
