Sensible Heat Formula = Heating Capacity

BTUH= Specific Heat x Specific Density x MinHr x CFM X TD

If you assume standard air the specific heat of air will always be .24 BTU/lb. Air density will always be .075 lb./cu’ and there is always 60 min in an hour. If you multiply those out, you produce the constant of 1.08 which simplifies the formula.

(standard air)Sensible BTUH= 1.08 x CFM X TD

Other than standard air you will need to change the constant of 1.08.

Sensible Heat Constant Correction Factor=.243 Specific heat of moist air x ((60 min per hour)/(Specific Volume of Air in CuFt. per pound))

The Psychrometric chart shows Specific Volumes of Air, for example 13.33 cu’/lb. of standard air at 70°F. If you need the specific density, then just take 1 divided by 13.33 cu’/lb. to get a specific density of standard air at .075 lb./cu’.
