New 2025 Volkswagen Taos Revealed
The 2025 Volkswagen Taos offers a refreshing update without being a complete overhaul. This latest model enhances both style and performance while maintaining the core attributes that have made the Taos popular since its debut.
Starting with the exterior, the Taos receives a subtle redesign that brings it in line with Volkswagen's contemporary look. The front of the vehicle now features a new design with a reconfigured grille. Instead of the previous upper grille, the 2025 Taos sports a narrow light strip that connects to newly designed, smaller LED headlights, now standard across all trims. The lower part of the front end showcases a larger grille, adding a touch of boldness to the SUV’s appearance. The rear of the vehicle also gets a design update, with a light bar linking the taillights. While the taillights themselves remain the same size, they now have updated housings for a more modern look.
Inside, the Taos introduces several enhancements that improve the driving experience. The dashboard is redesigned with a new floating 8.0-inch touchscreen, replacing the previous 6.5-inch screen. This update also brings a revised climate control system, providing better functionality and a sleeker look. For added convenience, Park Distance Control and the Adaptive Front Light System are now available on the SE trims, making the driving experience more intuitive and enjoyable.
One of the most significant changes is under the hood. The 2025 Taos retains its turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine but with notable improvements. The engine now delivers 174 horsepower, an increase of 16 horsepower over the previous model, thanks to new piston rings, injectors, a larger intercooler, and a new turbo housing. The vehicle now comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This change aims to provide a smoother and more responsive driving experience.
The 2025 Volkswagen Taos will be available with new wheel options and three new exterior colors: Bright Moss Green, Monterey Blue Pearl, and Monument Gray. While pricing details are still forthcoming, the new model is expected to cost more than the outgoing version, which started at $25,420 for the base model with front-wheel drive.
