Hawaii's lucky history in avoiding hurricanes
Thanks mostly to geography, hurricanes have barely hit Hawaii. The tiny islands hit practically the middle of the earth's largest oceans, but in the past 70 years, only 19 hurricanes have passed within 200 miles of the Big Island, Maui, Oahu, or Kauai.
