In this Project Spotlight we feature a computer-controlled crane built by Philip Drew, who is a member of the Runnymede Meccano Guild.

Philip built the crane to experiment with MECControl and it includes two motors, two potentiometers and an electromagnet, all of which are controlled via an Arduino Uno, two L298 H bridge modules and the MECControl software running on a Windows 10 notebook PC.

You can download the software and the FREE Arduino/Genuino Uno or Mega firmware from https://meccontrol.com, where we also have a range of electronic components that you can use with MECControl. Each one comes pre-wired with leads so that you can start using it right away. Just plug it into your Arduino/Genuino Uno or Mega — no soldering required!
