What better way to spend a morning than walking through the woods with birds chirping, the respite of cool morning air, and light streaming gently through the trees? Citrus County Parks and Recreation hosts free Birding with Parks events that help you experience nature like this alongside fellow bird enthusiasts.
On a walk through the Withlacoochee State Forest, Alice from Citrus County Parks and Rec guided us on a search for Red-cockaded Woodpeckers sprinkled among Florida’s famous Longleaf Pine. A local couple, Ann and Stephen shared their story of finally finding a shared passion for nature, which helped Ann through her health struggles and helped Stephen discover his creative side.
