Some incredible stories with Erik Wensberg, BMW M Brand Manager 1985-1998.
This was an impromptu story telling at a BMW CCA meeting in New Hampshire March 11, 2023. My friends Sandy and Bill were presenting on their 3.0 CSL project and I was lucky to be invited. Erik is currently restoring an M1 Procar that he found in the most unusual circumstances, mentioned in the video.
Erik was responsible for the creation of the US BMW Museum and the arrival of the McLaren F1 to the US. I met Erik over 20 years ago at the opening of the BMW Peabody center and E39 M5 introduction. He brought the McLaren to that event. I'll try to find a photo. It was a funny full-circle circumstance.
I think Erik will come down to see the M3 build soon. It would be amazing to show him around.
