How to travel Somaliland in 2024
In this episode I travelled to a forbidden area in Somaliland. The UK government strongly advice not to come to this part of Somaliland (Sheikh) as there is a threat of kidnap. If you do visit this region you MUST have an armed guard but we didn't.
I wore the traditional Macawis to blend in with the local people i think this helped. But visiting this region was one of the best days in Somaliland as it has lots of greenery and wild life like monkeys and camels.
We had to pass a few control stations to get out and away from the safety of Hargeisa. Before ending up in Sheikh and finishing at the top of the mountain which is the best travel experience in Somaliland if you ask me. We also passed a van that had fallen of the mountain on the way up.
We finished our day in Berbera the coastal region of Somaliland where there is an amazing beach. In Berbera there are a lot of restaurants so when it was time to break fast we had some rice and fish.
