Pericles' Funeral Oration
This lecture was originally given by Professor Edith Hall at Gresham College on 7th March 2019 entitled “The Greatest Speech of All Time: Pericles’ Funeral Oration”.
Gresham, which was founded in 1597 to provide free public lectures, subsequently forwarded a copy of the recording to Professor Hall specifically to allow her to post it on her YouTube account – as it did with all 11 of the lectures she gave at Gresham.
In May, without notice, Gresham unilaterally filed a mass copyright claim against Professor Hall arguing that by posting her lectures on YouTube she was infringing Gresham's copyright. This had the effect of disabling Professor Hall’s YouTube channel for several days.
As she still owns the copyright in the text of her lectures Professor Hall is re-recording them. This is the first re-recording.
