Details on the technique:
I split my source videos into a series of still images and applied a sketch filter to said stills to prep them for engraving. After creating all of the stills, sets and other physical assets, I used a software package in combination with a DSLR camera to create the stop motion sequences.
Many are used multiple times, so I managed it with 400 wooden plates. Not sure on total hours for the project, but it took 3.5 months working on it here and there. I used CAD to design the other elements such as the set pieces (gears, deconstructed shadows, wheel, etc.)
