Edit for headphones, March 2023. Cat Stevens had a Greek father, and that's what the sound of this song is: Greek. A song from the 1971 album "Teaser And The Firecat" (2008 deluxe edition, with ten bonus songs). The album charted #1 in Australia, #2 in Canada, Norway, Spain, UK and USA, #23 in Germany, #25 in New Zealand.
Some of Cat's father's friends played bouzouki on this song. Backing vocals were by Linda Lewis and Alun & Paul Samwell-Smith. The song was originally called "Who'll Be My Love?" and did not contain the Greek verse until later. Alun Samwell-Smith's daughter Rebecca used to ask Cat to sing "the Rubylove song" and so the name stayed and spun into verse three as well.
