While the Tesla Model 3 has now been in production for nearly a year, the high-end mid-sized electric sedan has only been offered in range-toping additional options added, long-range rear-wheel drive configuration, meaning its sticker price has been far from the promised $35,000 headline price that Tesla announced back in 2016. That configuration, Tesla has always promised, would be released further down the road, alongside dual motor and high-performance dual motor variants. 

This weekend, while we're still waiting for the base-level Model 3 to be announced, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed the specifications and prices for the dual motor and performance dual motor Model 3 variants, essentially making the existing rear-wheel drive long-range model the second cheapest Model 3 you can buy next to the as-yet-unreleased entry-level model. 

But what are the specifications for the dual motor models? Why do they have two different motor types in them? And what of the entry-level model 3? When can we expect that?
