A good mobile network can, indeed, feel like a fairytale.
Pelephone, Israel’s first network operator to offer mobile telephony services, had quickly gone on to become the trademark name for all mobile phones, regardless of the service provider. This genericization demanded a commercial equally engaging and gripping––precisely what was delivered!
Titled “Another World”, this ad imagined a dream-like world and wove an outlandish narrative to highlight the grandiosity and versatility of the brand. Well, that’s one way to do it. With twirled cypresses, clouds running along a picturesque path as a man’s car breaks down (rather dramatically at that), and a bride stranded alone at her wedding without her groom, the plot builds on the urgency and anticipation––the perfect recipe for product integration.
What makes this ad all the more memorable is that one could never tell at first glance, or even almost all the way through the story that it is selling a mobile network!
…but who’s complaining? Don’t we all love us a whimsical, candyland getaway every once in a while?
