Coming up on Fokus: Namaqualand (26 Aug 2018)
So-called illegal diamond miners in Namaqualand are putting increasing pressure on government to legalise the mining of diamonds in old, abandoned mines. Miners in Kimberley recently received permits. The small miners are highly dissatisfied as they have been asking for permits since 2012. And the Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements visited concerned residents of a residential park in Hermanus. The residents face eviction to make space for a new development.
