Learning The Ropes in Apache Canyon
Apache Canyon is located in northern Ventura County, in a remote area beyond Lockwood Valley east of Highway 33. It was there that I had my first off-road ride beyond a fire road, shown in this video. In fact, this was my second time only off pavement, so you will see lots of mistakes. I fell a couple of times, stalled the bike, got beached and did wrong everything else you can imagine. Four-and-a-half years later, though, I'm a much better dirt rider and I'm not afraid of doing my own off-road escapades alone..
The purpose here is to show you that we are all beginners at one point of our journey. So if you are new to what you are doing and is struggling, you just need to persevere. Take classes, read about you are learning to do, engage with others - especially people who have been through it before -, allow yourself to fail and, most important, enjoy the experience. You will get there.
