Suspects Sought Following Arson in Vaughan

Investigators from the #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking two suspects and appealing for witnesses following an arson in the City of Vaughan.

On Saturday, July 20, 2024, shortly before 12:30 a.m., police responded to a residence in the area of Riverside Drive and Birch Hill Road for a report of a fire. When officers arrived, a fire was observed within the home.

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services arrived shortly after and extinguished the fire.

The house was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries.

The Office of the Fire Marshal was engaged and determined the incident to be an arson.

Video from the area showed two suspects entering the backyard deck area. One suspect is observed to be holding two jerry cans, believed to contain an accelerant, while the second suspect attempts to shatter a glass door.

Moments later, a large flash is observed on video and two suspects are observed to be fleeing the residence to a vehicle waiting nearby. The vehicle is last seen travelling northbound on Riverside Drive.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity, or anyone with a video recording that captured any suspicious activity in the area, to please come forward.
