This is an old song of mine. It was written in 2013. On the surface this song is about Isabel, a harlot in The Book Of Mormon that a missionary abandons his responsibilities for. But on a deeper level, this song is about misplaced trust and addiction. Isabell was just a metaphore. We all have our own Isabells. They are like the siren songs that take us away from our responsibilities and lead us to harm. And yet, even when we know it's not good for us, we still yearn for it. I have seen Isabell take the form of alcohol, gambling, drugs, porn, and even seemingly small things like junk food, gaming, work or energy drinks.
