❏ 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞:
Born: 1958 in Maper Akuar, Twic Mayardit, South Sudan.
Youngest of six siblings, raised in the Adiang Mayom area.
Parents were peasants and cattle owners—his father from the Pawiel clan, and his mother from the Pajung clan.
Instilled with a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to education.
❏ 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Attended Mayen Abun, a center of both Christian faith and education.
Graduated from Wau Junior Secondary School in 1976.
One of 18 South Sudanese students to attend Port Sudan Government Senior Secondary School, graduating in 1980.
❏ 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 & 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭:
Worked for Sudan’s taxation department in Wau.
Detained by national security forces in 1983 but used the time to plan his future.
❏ 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐒𝐏𝐋𝐀 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠:
Opposed President Nimeiri’s abrogation of South Sudan’s autonomy.
Arrested again but freed in 1984; joined the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) in Malakal.
Trained at Bongo Military Training Center, Ethiopia, and graduated as a second lieutenant in the SPLA.
❏ 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫:
Played a key role in the Bright Star Campaign and led his forces to victories in battles, including the capture of Mundri in 1994.
Promoted to Alternate Commander due to his exceptional leadership.
Led his forces in capturing key towns like Morobo, Lainya, and Yambio in 1996.
❏ 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲:
Passed away on March 10, 1997, while commanding SPLA forces in the Battle of Yei.
Remembered for his courage, military prowess, and dedication to South Sudan’s struggle for independence.
His legacy continues to inspire generations in South Sudan.
