Vehicles in Singapore required a COE (Certificate of Entitlement) for it to be used on the road, it usually cost many thousands. The Toyota Vios that I had been using to do Uber had it's COE expiring soon, it would cost more than $50,000 to extend it's life span. Not only the Rental company is reluctant to do so, Uber don't really like the idea of using cars that are more than 10 years to fetch it's customers.

After some careful thoughts, I decided to try out on renting a new ride with the infamous LCR, Lion City Rental.There are many rumours about how bad the company is, many drivers condemn the company and advise others not to fall into the trap.
I found many stories were exaggerated and many lack logic, at the same time I met some drivers who are renting from LCR. They told me they do not have any issue and they are happy with their services.
Many months back, I saw the new Toyota Sienta on the road. I was attracted by it's look and was very keen on renting one of this for Ubering. When I was told that majority of the available stock belongs to LCR, I decided to make a trip down to Uber Hub for more info.
I eventually placed a deposit and signed up with a 6 months contract to enjoy the maximum perks. Initially I was told that the waiting period was 1 to 3 weeks, however, 3 days later I was informed that the car is ready for collection.
On 14th December 2016, I took the MRT and headed down to Parklane Shopping Mall at Dhoby Ghaut. After some briefing we were guided and signed the contract, we were then instructed to the car park which is at another level to collect the car.
The hirer do not have the luxury to choose the colour of the car, it depends on the availability. For me, a bright green Toyota Sienta is allocated to me, it was used by another hirer before for 6 months.
The checking procedure was quite simple, but I took some precaution and went a step further by capturing the defect with my camera. 3 hours later, I was on the road with the new ride, the Toyota Sienta or Greenie. (A name that I gave to it) and the rest is history.
