This video is part of my COPPER INSIDE series — where I tear down welders, transformers, sealed units, ACs, motors, and anything else hiding beautiful copper inside.
Today’s challenge:
7 different methods to remove the rock-hard resin, varnish, and fiberglass tape that hold transformer copper hostage.
I tested the most common (and some weird) methods scrappers always talk about:
Lacquer thinner
Boiling water
Freezer method
Coca-Cola bath
SuperClean degreaser
Circa 1850 chemical stripper
Heat gun + grinder
Almost all of them failed completely.
The FINAL method worked…
…but it’s NOT safe, and I do NOT recommend trying it.
