Many Pop songs have orchestral hits, often THE orchestral hit that came from the Fairlight CMI synthesizer.
The story of the Fairlight and the famous „ORCH5“ is told here: • How the Fairlight CMI changed the course o...
The original sample is from Stravinsky's Firebird Suite No. 2 (1919). It is the opening chord of "Infernal dance of King Kashchei".
Besides the sample from the 1965 recording, I made three more samples from other recordings.
The original note played by the orchestra in octaves is an A, by the way.
The Fairlight offered the iconic sound first 1/2 s long at 8 bit with much of aliasing noise. My samples are longer and of CD quality. Higher resolution is not accepted by the MODX.
If you want to imitate the 80s' sound even more, you can "age" the waveform with the great filters of the MODX/Montage.
