Things you CAN NOT put into your garbage disposal are:

Celery stalks and corn husks which can get wrapped around the impellers of your waste disposal system.

Fruit pits and meat bones that are hard and not easy to break up. These can dull your disposal’s blades.

Foods that expand with water like beans, rice, pasta and bread. These food items act like sponges in your drain. When they're saturated with water, they can easily cause a clog.

F.O.G. - F.O.G. stands for Fats, Oils and Grease. These food byproducts harden as they cool, and since they cool in your drain and disposal after you pour it down, it can be pretty easy to cause a clog.

Things you CAN put down your garbage disposal include: Table scraps or small portions of food that don't involve any of the things we've previously mentioned.

You can also put sliced citrus and ice cubes through your disposal. This keeps the grinder clean and smelling fresh.
