Gender equality in Colombia
In Colombia, an Andean nation of 45 million people, a daily battle for gender equality is being waged. In 1954, Colombian women gained the right to vote. And in 1991, the Constitution enshrined equal rights and opportunities for men and women. Significant progress has also been made in gender equality and the empowerment of Colombian women, despite the social and armed conflict that has plagued the country for 45 years.
