An inhibitory G protein-coupled receptor with opioids as ligands. The endogenous opioids are dynorphins, enkephalins, endorphins, endomorphins and nociceptin. They are up to 40% identical to somatostatin receptors and distributed widely in the brain, in the spinal cord, on peripheral neurons, and digestive tract.
