Quad Crash ( How Not to Fly a Quadcopter )
Sheldon's first edited video. We try to fly our aging and battered Quadcopter one more time, with limited success, Steve was able to fly around the backyard where Sheldon moved to last spring. Our stills being rusty and not having the proper documentation caused a serious crash of our quadcopter. Fortunately no one was hurt. The main problem was in an early flight I noticed a extreme drift of the quad, which I used trim to resolve, however the next flight, this defect of flight and forgetting to turn on the GPS, coupled with the panic I flew it strait into the ground, doing significant damage to three prop, the motor arms, camera mount, and GPS antenna. Sheldon took a good inspection of the quadcopter and has since been able to get it off the ground, although he himself has not yet flown it. Steve is in the process of designing a quad frame to reduce weight because the current body is almost six pounds, which has significantly reduced flight times. Hopefully in the near future we will be able to give this new design a try, using all new flight controls, motors and power control system.
