Father Time - special effect
The" Father Time" project was designed using Adobe After Effects using multiple layers and masks, to create the background smoke layers and the glowing eyes. Mocha was used to create the tracking data for the eye elements. The smoke and fog layer was made by real video of smoke from a small piece of burning burlap that was then extinguished and allowed to smolder against a black background, then using After Effects the smoke element was place, and rotated multiple times with the shift channel with luminance applied to remove the background. This effected was saved and brought into the original Father Time comp placed, scaled and rotated into position and the opacity brought down. We placed the smoke behind and in front of the actor to give it depth.
A glow was added to the actor as well as color correction to more closely match the background and to give it a ghostly ethereal appearance. a lens flare effect was added to the staff as well as the eyes.
