Volunteering Bannack SP, MT Ghost Town EP 42
In this episode;
We go to Montana to do volunteer work with “A Year To Volunteer” at Bannack State Park Ghost Town. It takes us four days and 2,100 miles to get there. Had to deal with a bad 5th wheel tire and a severe snow storm along the way.
When we arrive it was sunny and in the high 60s and overnight a week long storm front comes in with snow and cold temperatures.
Working with 23 other volunteers and the park staff we are able to update and improve 453 feet of boardwalk, clean and remove graffiti in 35 buildings, repair the front porch of the Ovitts store and repair the Hotel Meade’s entry stairs.
During the projects off hours we catch some Brown trout, get a VIP tour the Gold Mill and visit the gallows and original cemetery. Since we were boon docking the whole two weeks, Shar and Phil (Y2V) had a septic truck come out and empty all of our gray and black tanks (Thanks so much!).
We had a great time and looking forward to our next project with them.
