Another day at the "office", though it's early and I might accomplish more today. This is a short test of the fusor with new grid, and the primary of what is to be an RF transformer in series with the main grid, ion grid setup as normal, and gas just below where it will maintain without the ion source. Turning the ion source up just to the point of "lighting off" seems to have it oscillating and making yet more neutrons (you're hearing neutron detectors) per watt. Now to do the full hookup and see what we get, but this is already a doubling in Q from just that oscillation, which is now a lot easier to get. Seems I guessed close on the primary inductance. Guessing here - kickback from that is helping, and the true instantaneous main grid voltage is sometimes higher than the power supply reports putting out.
I'll be able to test that guess soon.
