Under the guise of getting some work done, a little fun here on the homestead. "Don't try this at home", or at least, don't blame me if you do! This is a way to split firewood when nothing else can handle it. This is particularly tough white oak that my hydraulic splitter wouldn't handle, nor wedges nor mauls. Chemistry to the rescue. I fabricated this powder wedge based on another youtube video I saw while trying to figure out how to handle this stuff.    • Powder Wedge 2.mov   I used 6" x 2" of 4130 chrome moly stock machined on my lathe and it seems to work fine. I use mostly some pyrodex someone left to me, but you can also use black powder - fffg seems just right for this.
