In 1907, Duncan Macdougall conducted a controversial experiment in order to weigh the human soul, and thus find proof of its existence, finding the weight to be 21.3 grams. This experiment, known today as the 21 gram experiment, was widely criticized at the time, but its legacy endures in the field of parapsychology, as well as in popular culture today.
