Whatever it was I was doing with my voice to sing this did not feel like healthy vocal technique. Don't try this at home kids!!
But this is one of my favorite niki songs and I wasn't happy with how I sounded on it the last time I tried which was around 2014-2015. I'm never fully happy with my covers and certainly think I don't have good control over use of vibrato, but at least happier with it than before. I actually feel pretty okay about how this mix turned out (thanks Atel, Ami Naisu, and others who attended the music accountability sessions where I showed several drafts of this mix...). I actually checked back on the files and I first recorded for this over a year ago, but without having these regular sessions to hold me accountable, I probably would've put off finishing the mix even longer.
