Gina Adams, founder of Wareologie, interviews Cheryl Crow, an Occupational Therapist (OT) who has lived with rheumatoid arthritis for 18 years.
As an occupational therapist, Cheryl takes a biopsychosocial approach and focuses on combining compensatory strategies (like life hacks and adaptive gadgets) with remedial strategies (like strengthening or pain relief), all while also attending to the psychosocial aspects of life with chronic illness.
Cheryl founded Arthritis Life, an online company whose aim is to "educate, empower and support" others with arthritis through life hacks, patient centered storytelling, fun and engaging videos, and formal self-management online courses.
In this interview, Gina and Cheryl explore the difference between Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy and why one can be a healthier approach. Cheryl, who also currently serves as Adjunct Faculty for the Lake Washington Institute of Technology's Occupational Therapy Assistant program in the Seattle area shares her favorite hacks to make living with arthritis easier.
