Correlation between Performance Level as per ISO-13849 and SIL as per IEC-62061 or IEC-61508
This particular video talks about the relationship between Performance Level(PL) as per ISO-13849 and SIL as per IEC-62061 or IEC-61508.
Most of the manufactures mentions PL and SIL level in the certificates, but in cases either of the two is missing. This is painful for system designers as they are not able to assess the overall safety level. This issue has been resolved in the latest edition of ISO-13849 where it provides a table to mark correlation PL and SIL. Now, performance level a has no correlation with Safety Integrity Level as it provides safety against minor/reversible injuries.
Performance level b and c are related SIL-1. PL d is related to SIL-2 and PL e is related to SIL-3.
