NS 8098 VISITS SOCAL!! Railfanning East LA!
I went out to East LA on the morning of July 13th, 2024 with the intention of catching NS 8098, the Conrail heritage unit! Up until this point, NS 8098 remained the only NS heritage locomotive to have never made an appearance into SoCal or the west coast for that matter. While this unit has come close to visiting SoCal both on UP & BNSF on multiple occasions, some obstruction weather it broke down on BNSF, or getting pulled off by UP in the southwest, it has never made a true appearance west as far as I know. All 20 NS heritage units have now made a visit at some point into SoCal since 2012! 8098 as well as 1071 are my favorite of them all! Enjoy!
