๐๐จ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ฆ celebrates spring, awakening, and the joy of vibrant life. Like a flower lifts towards the sun, the pieces in this concert embody lifeโs vitality, uplift, and resilience. Through works such as Joan Szymkoโs โStars in Your Bones,โ Rollo Dilworthโs โShine On Me,โ Thomas Morleyโs lilting โApril is in My Mistressโ Face,โ and Alejandro Yagรผeโs beautiful contemporary work, โHistorietas del Viento,โ the Peninsula Womenโs Chorus will sonify what it is to turn oneโs face towards the sun. ๐๐จ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ฆ closes PWCโs first two-year Composer-in-Residence cycle, showcasing Julie Herndonโs commissioned work, โMouth,โ which premiered at the New Music for Treble Voices Festival. This concert also marks the beginning of our time with our second Composer-in-Residence and guest artist, Theresa Wong, who will accompany the PWC on cello for Donald Patriquinโs heartwarming arrangement of the Czech folksong, โAch! Synku, Synku,โ as well as perform improvised interludes throughout the concert. Radiance, PWCโs chamber ensemble, will perform Wongโs exquisite composition โTo Burst to Bloom.โ The concert will close with Astor Piazzollaโs raucous โLibertango,โ as we relish the contagious energy that is spring.
