Pianoteq Experiments - Velocity-Controlled Felt
Some more Pianoteq improvisation to demonstrate one way to apply expression-based modulation. In this case, playing at softer velocities inserts a thick piece of felt between the hammer and strings. The felt disappears at higher velocities, for a clearer, more open sound.
I explain how to do this with Bitwig in the video, but you can also do this with other DAWs. Some do it natively, and others need a plugin (e.g. Piz MIDI Utilities):
