Peter Thiel Building WAR Drones in Ohio
U.S. defense contractor Anduril Industries is opening a a massive advanced manufacturing facility in central Ohio. The man behind the company is none other than Pay-Pal mafia member Peter Thiel.
The 5 million square foot facility will be located on 500 acres just southwest of Columbus. The site is being called Arsenal 1 and will be producing military drones and autonomous air vehicles. If all goes according to plan, the site will be up and running by July of 2026. Anduril says that this new Ohio based facility will be key to its goal to “Rebuild the Arsenal” of U.S. weapons.
They’ll do this by “hyper-scaling” manufacturing with advanced software and production technologies. The company has managed to raise $1.5 billion, including $900 million in regional capital investment.
The plant will provide 4,000 jobs and generate more than $1 billion of in-state labor. It is also expected to create an additional 4,500 jobs over the next decade.
It will also bring a projected $800 million in tax revenue, $2 billion in annual economic output, and an additional.
The first item Anduril plans to build at the plant is its Fury unmanned aircraft system. This will be followed by their Barracuda and Roadrunner drones. No explosives for these drones will be made at the Ohio facility. Eventually, Anduril plans to produce all of its products in Ohio. This would include the six drones listed on their website, counter-drone systems for fighting off unmanned aerial systems,two different autonomous underwater vehicles, as well as an open-source software system called Lattice that uses AI to integrate computer systems and transmit data.
