8 Steps
STEP 1 - Mix 500mL of drink water with 1 tbsp of Salt into a large cup. Mix until salt is dissolved
STEP 2 - Transfer 3 tbsp of the salt water to a separate cup.
STEP 3 - Swish the salt water in your mouth for 30 seconds.
STEP 4 - Spit salt water back into the cup.
STEP 5 - Add one drop of dish soap and gently stir. Try not to make bubbles.
STEP 6 -In a separate cup, add 100mL of Isopropyl Alcohol and 3 drops of food coloring.
STEP 7 - Tilt the salt water cup and gently pour the Isopropyl alcohol into the salt water cup. This should make a layer over the salt water.
STEP 8 - Wait for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Science behind it
You extracted cells containing DNA from cheeks by swishing the saltwater solution in your mouth. Then, you removed the DNA from cheek cells by using the soap solution to break apart the cell membrane. The soap solution breaks the cell membranes that are made up of fats – just like soap breaks down grease on your dishes. Finally, by adding the rubbing alcohol, the DNA that was extracted from your cells became visible. #shorts #short #shortvideo
