Baldwin 50hp 2-4-0DM Moelwyn
Ffestiniog Railway No. 11 Moelwyn
Built for use by the French during the First World War as an 0-4-0DM and then acquired by the FR in the 1920s for use on shunting and other light duties. The locomotive was rebuilt in the 1950s to improve its ride and economy, including the fitting of a pony truck, it was named Moelwyn and was extensively used on engineering trains as well as providing back-up for passenger operations. The locomotive is now part of the lines heritage fleet.
We see the locomotive double heading with Mountaineer during the Ffestiniog 50 event and in Army Grey during the Welsh Highland Past Present and Future event and on a day out with a pair of small steam locomotives.
