Built 1891, Gateshead Works
The locomotive spent much of its NER and LNER days working at Tyne Dock and upon withdrawal in 1931, the locomotive was sold to Robert Frazer & Sons and then Pelaw Main Collieries Limited in 1933. In 1949 it passed to The National Coal Board.
In 2019 it was discovered that the locomotives frames were actual of number 900, a second NCB Y7 at Pelaw Main, overhauled at NCB Ouston E workshops during an overhaul in 1950. The locomotive had a new boiler fitted in August 1951.
The locomotive is owned by the Seam Power Trust and based at the In 1965 it was bought by the Steam Power Trust for use on the Middleton Railway in Leeds. In this video we see the locomotive just before withdrawal in 2021.
